10 Delicious Cheeses from Gold Creek Farms
Since living in southern Italy for two years, I have been a self-proclaimed cheese aficionado. I was so excited to receive Gold Creek Farms’s Cheese Lover’s Special: over two pounds of five different flavors of cheese! I tried to choose a good selection of strong and light, aged and fresh cheeses. We hosted a cheese-tasting party, and they were delicious! The first five listed below were included in this special.
Here is a list of 10 delicious cheeses from Gold Creek Farms:
1 – Smoked White Cheddar - I absolutely love smoked cheeses. I had never tried a true smoked cheddar before, and it was amazing! This was my favorite of the bunch.
2 – Chartufo (Truffle) - I don’t like mushrooms, but I like the flavor of mushrooms which made this sweet and creamy truffle cheese just perfect. This one went very well with some simple crackers.
3 – Fasiago - A combination of asiago and cheddar, this cheese has a nice bite to it. I will be grating it over our next Italian pasta.
4 – Smoked Parmesan - We finely grated this smoked parmesan over a tortellini sausage soup, and it gave the soup a delectable, smoky parmesan taste. Yum!
5 – Fig-Mustard - I had to try at least one unique cheese, and this was it! It has a slight tang to it with just a hint of the fig-mustard flavor. It was delicious.
6 – Drunken Cheddar - This is a three-year-aged cheddar soaked in a combination of red wines. For me, the longer a cheese is aged, the better.
7 – Saffron - Saffron has to be used just right or a dish can be overpowered by the strong flavor. This cheese is infused with Spanish saffron and rubbed with smoky paprika. I can’t wait to try it!
8 – Feta - This tangy, salty cheese is perfect for crumbling over a salad or on a cracker with an olive.
9 – Bacon-Chive - I love when seemingly non-pairing flavors are daringly blended! This cheese would be amazing on a good, classic grilled cheese sandwich.
10 – Cumin Spiced - This was the first of Gold Creek Farms’s specialty cheddars. The cumin gives this cheese a delayed spicy kick. I love it!
Gold Creek Farms renovated an existing milk farmhouse in 2007 to house its own Brown Swiss Cows, renowned for the buttery richness of their milk! Its cheese-maker, Fernando Chavez-Sandoval boldly creates new recipes and won Best in Class for his smoked cheddar and Second in Class for his smoked parmesan at the World Championship Cheese Competition in 2012!Disclosure – Per FTC Regulations, I am disclosing that I received this $48 cheese pack from the company mentioned above, free of charge, for review.
